COVID-19 Information and Resources

We understand that the COVID-19 situation is still developing. Your safety is our primary concern and we are working closely with the venue to ensure social distancing measures will be possible. We are moving forward with conference preparations with the assumption that an in-person event will be possible this year. If there are any changes to this plan we will let you know as soon as we are aware. In-person Straight Talk is a highly valuable experience for our financial professionals and it is our hope to see you all in September!

This page will be updated as more information is available. Please note that Straight Talk With The Directors Council is a mandatory event, and attendance to the annual Compliance Meeting is required.

 

Tim Gelinas
With more than 20 years of experience, Tim specializes in helping retirees preserve and protect their assets. His personalized service has won him numerous awards and national recognition. Tim led The Leaders Group in production 3 years in a row (2012-2014) and is currently amongst the top-ranking reps for The Leaders Group for 2019. He has received the 2008 & 2009 Five Star Best in Client Satisfaction Award for Wealth Managers and the 2011 through 2018 Five Star Wealth Manager Award as seen in Atlanta Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Forbes. He was also awarded the Top 40 Advisors Under 40 by NAIFA’s Atlanta chapter in 2011 and 2012. He was named to the Advisors Council by Fidelity Investments in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and has been a member of TLG President’s Club since its inception. He is also an inaugural member of the Advisor Council for Starlight Portfolios.

 

Sal Palazzolo
Salvatore Palazzolo started his career in 1996. He is a Certified Treasury Planner, winner of the Five Star Wealth Manager award since 2013. He is the founder of Resource Insurance and Financial Group LLC, a multi-million-dollar agency with 12 brokers and 6 customer service representatives. Resource Insurance and Financial Group has multiple brokers with multiple lines of business ranging from group benefits, commercial, home and auto. His primary focus is financial planning, which allows the other members of the firm to pursue in-house cross-sell opportunities with one another’s clients.

Sal graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 1996. He has been married for 21 years and is father to two teenaged boys and coaches their football team. When he is not busy, he volunteers in a food pantry with his family; he also works and donates his time with fundraising activities for a battered women and children’s center in Arlington Heights.

 

Sonny Horn
Sonny has resided with his family in The Woodlands, Texas since 1980. He is a graduate of Lamar University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. He founded Horn Financial Group in March 1990, specializing in financial and retirement planning. Horn Financial is now affiliated with The Leaders Financial Group, a nationwide network of independent brokers. As an adjunct professor, Mr. Horn teaches Financial Planning Seminars through Sam Houston University.

 

Robin Robertson
Robin Robertson, principal of Pacific Peak Advisors, has been in the financial services industry for over 30 years. She specializes in designing plans tailored to the goals, dreams and needs of each individual, business and family with whom she works. Robin is a Past President of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors; Orange County and a sought-after speaker at industry events.

Dan Thompson
Dan Thompson is the Principal and founder of Union Bridge Capital (UBC) and its subsidiary, Cantilever Wealth Management, LLC.

UBC is an integrated wealth firm that focuses on the four core drivers of wealth-investment management, tax services, risk management and legal coordination for both personal and business clients. Through Cantilever Wealth Management, LLC, he also provides direct investment management for high net-worth individuals, endowments, philanthropies and pensions.

 

Jim Raabe
After a 13-year career as a banker, Jim entered the financial planning business in 1990 and is founder of Raabe & Associates LLC. He now applies his financial skills and experience gained from working as a banker to assisting clients with the creation of company retirement plans, pension plans, business insurance, and addressing the owner’s financial concerns. Jim Raabe lives in Kirkland, WA with his wife and two children. When he isn’t working, you can find him traveling, gardening, or reading.

 

Bob Friedlander
Robert S. Friedlander is Owner and President of Friedlander Benefit Services, Inc. Robert is a Certified Financial Planner and with over 37 years of experience providing comprehensive financial planning for his clients.

As a Certified Financial Planner, Robert takes his clients through all steps of the financial planning process including reviewing their savings, investments, insurance, long-term care, retirement and estate planning needs. Robert assists his clients in creating a solid and sound financial foundation that they can build upon during their working years and benefit from during their retirement years. He is able to provide the most current information and products available based on individual needs. He prides himself in offering an easy explanation and understanding of financial products and concepts.

Robert services and advises over 800 clients throughout the country. He has been selected to represent the members of the Maryland State Troopers Association, as well as employees of various physician and dental offices, nursing homes, universities, accounting firms and businesses. Specializing in working with organizations, business owners, professionals and their employees, Robert is able to assist them with saving additional money to supplement their retirement as well as saving money on their income taxes. He helps guide his clients through all their employee benefit and insurance planning.
